Shared Services is responsible for managing the onboarding and ongoing management associated with conducting business with third-party vendors and defining a consistent program for First Republic’s vendor relationships. In the process, we fulfill the applicable negotiations to meet legal, information security, regulatory, and financial requirements on behalf of the organization. We also work with business units to secure, risk assess and oversee all vendor services.

 

The Strategic Sourcing Manager role supports designated business areas in the development and implementation of a category plan  to assist the business in its assessment of the use of third parties who provision goods or services to the Bank..  This role will indirectly manage teams supporting engagements with the business.  The Manager supports the business in managing a category of spend of approximately $100 million.  The Manager engages directly with the business units to build strategies for the assigned work including requests for proposals, information requests, and reverse auctions.  

 

What you'll do as a Strategic Sourcing Manager:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a category for complex strategic sourcing activities.
    • Conduct market analysis, analyzes category spend data and apply broad industry knowledge to sourcing strategies and recommendations.
    • Work closely with business partners to source best-in-class goods and or services to advance the Bank’s goals and objectives.
    • Identify and communicate category-related trends to the business.
    • Manage individual project timelines.
    • Execute complex RFx or other sourcing events.
    • Support the Bank’s minority and women owned business enterprise (MWBE)/Supplier Diversity program aspirations.
  • Coordinate negotiations with suppliers for high-dollar, complex or high priority goods and or services.
    • Engage business partners to determine negotiation objectives.
    • Leverage multiple negotiation methodologies to achieve desired outcomes in a consistent and methodical manner.
    • Partner closely with the business and subject matter experts to ensure the best interests of the bank are always represented in negotiations.
    • Manage the interaction with the business, IT, Vendor Management, Business Technology Partners and suppliers throughout the negotiation process.
    • Work closely with business partners to define key performance indicators and service level agreements to hold suppliers accountable.
  • Provide senior level leadership.
    • Manage business relationships, acting as a liason between Shared Services and the business leadership.
    • Provide expertise and mentor others.
    • Develop and recommend continuous improvement efforts.
    • Stay abreast of external sourcing strategy best practices and make recommendations accordingly.
    • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
    • Partner with Shared Services teams to pull in additional staff support when needed.

 

You could be a great fit if you have:

  • 5-7 years of sourcing financial services or related industry experience
  • Ability to work closely with the business owners and other stakeholders/subject matter experts to ensure that commitments are achieved.
  • Deep understanding of goods and services contracting strategies as well as negotiation techniques.
  • Technology company, consulting or outsourcing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct business impact and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Track record in providing thought leadership.
  • Understanding of IT methodologies (Waterfall, Agile etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with and establish solid working relationships with managers and coworkers.
  • 4 year degree required; advanced degree (MBA and/or JD) a plus.
