In Technology, we support First Republic’s employees and clients through the acquisition, integration and management of the Bank’s information technology systems and services. As part of the Information Services team, the EDCI (Enterprise Data and Client Insights)Technology Team drives the vision to create an industry leading, client-centric data and analytics platform. The team is looking for forward thinking, action-oriented individuals to help drive the implementation and development of innovative, cutting-edge solutions.

This position, as part of the Architecture and Innovation team, supports the other teams in the EDCI Technology Team by providing guidance and consultation on solution architecture, as well as assisting in designing new solutions and modifying current solutions. In addition, designing and implementing platform services to support data engineering, enterprise data warehouses, data marts, and data operations across the bank. They must be a highly hands on, motivated, quality driven engineer to lead solution architecture, design, and development. While strategic thinking and coordination are important elements of this role, this individual will be required to collaborate with multiple data providers and other business teams to design and build successful solutions.

What you’ll do as a Software Architect:

• Communicate and collaborate with product managers and technology teams to design, analyze, and build highly scalable solutions
• Build software and data engineering expertise and own data quality for our processes.
• Design and deliver large scale, highly available and mission-critical data platforms and features using modern cloud and big data architectures
• Develop and deliver batch, stream, and big data solutions using technologies such as Kafka, EMR, Kinesis, Storm, Spark, Hadoop, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.
• Help to ensure solutions follow industry best practices and SDLC
• Involved in end-to-end agile design, scoping, implementation, and testing of solutions.

You Could be a great fit:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree preferred
• 7+ years of collective experience in software engineering, data analysis, data warehousing or data transformation, in a similarly sized organization.
• 2+ years of experience architecting, building and administering large-scale distributed applications using AWS Platform.
• 2+ years of software development experience with tools like C#, Python, etc.
• In-depth understanding of AWS and Big Data eco-system (e.g. Spark, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, Snowflake, DMS )
• In-depth understanding of data warehousing and BI concepts, including hands on experience building ETL/ELT data pipelines and drafting data architecture diagrams and data flows to support design concepts
• Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift

Professional Skills/Competency

• Experience with agile development
• Proficiency with at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, C#.
• Experience with Amazon AWS services (Redshift, SQS, Kinesis, DynamoDB, RDS etc.)
• Expert level proficiency in SQL. Ability to perform complex data analysis with large volumes of data
• Experience with Big Data technologies, e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake
• Hands-on experience building real-time or near real-time data pipelines is a big plus
• Demonstrated experience working in large-scale data environments which included real-time and batch processing requirements
• Strong understanding of ETL processing with large data stores. Strong data modeling skills (relational, dimensional and flattened). Strong analytical and SQL skills, with attention to detail.
