The Business Technology Partner of PWM Technology will create and lead execution of a technology vision and roadmap aligned with the business strategy for Private Wealth Management and First Republic Bank. This individual is responsible for providing all technology needs for the Private Wealth Management division through their team or working collaboratively with other Bank technology groups.

 

The BTP must be highly collaborative and work effectively in a matrix environment with all senior business and technology leaders within the organization. It is expected that the BTP leader will work at a strategic level to develop long term business technology plans that promote the business unit’s goals and objectives, and in partnership with other business technology leaders and teams. This leader must also balance the near-term needs and requirements to effectively deliver upon quick-win business opportunities while also ensuring a high level of operational stability and long-term advancement against the roadmap.

 

What you’ll do as a Vice President, Business Technology Partner, Private Wealth Management:

  • Develop, communicate and execute an annual business technology strategy with key stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic technology planning for Private Wealth Management to ensure business goals are achieved by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.

  • Understand business partner technology needs, challenges assumptions, and champion efforts within the Technology group to develop cost effective, innovative solutions that can be leveraged across the enterprise where applicable.
  • Facilitate and support technology governance reviews within and across business groups. Report on relevant metrics, provide recommendations for improvements, create presentations, and bring together appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintain strategic partnerships with select vendors and Managed Services Providers to support the needs of the business and deliver high quality, cost-effective products and solutions.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with departmental and organizational executives and leaders. Create transparency with the business and supporting technology groups.
  • Research applicable technology trends, stay abreast of technology directions, educate business partners on technology opportunities and refine multi-year business strategy/technology roadmap to maintain technological and competitive edge.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with operations technology-related investments and purchases.
  • Ensures business solutions are compliant with bank policies and standards.
  • Responsibilities include the following: 1) adhering to and complying with the applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Financial Services (i.e. FINRA and SEC), Anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.), 2) adhering to Bank policies and procedures, 3) completing required training, 4) identifying and reporting suspicious activity to the AML Officer.

 

You could be a great fit if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field (or four additional years related work experience in lieu of bachelors). Masters preferred
  • Minimum of fifteen years of related work experience. Demonstrated recognition for successfully leading a function or group. Demonstrated comfort interacting with C-suite audiences
  • Experience in supporting Wealth Management and Operational departments
  • Experience in successfully managing and overseeing large complex corporate projects / programs
  • Analysis (Organizational Impact): Ability to understand and analyze the cost, technical, knowledge and/or technological implications of a change at an individual, department, affiliate, regional and enterprise level
  • Prioritization: Ability to assign relevance and risk to a series of planned and unplanned events at an individual, department, affiliate, regional and enterprise level against a specific outcome
  • Change Management: Ability to lead, manage and implement change initiatives in an effective manner; ability to manage to the organization's policy and standards for change in live services and test environments. Ability to effectively control the treatment of risk to the availability, performance, security and compliance of the business services impacted
  • Relationship Management: Ability to identify, analyze, manage and monitor relationships with and between stakeholders. The clarification of mutual needs and commitments through consultation and consideration of impacts
  • Technical Wealth/Investment management experience or skills including:
    • Trading (Equity, Fixed Income, Options etc)
    • Performance Reporting
    • Portfolio Accounting
    • Portfolio Management
    • Market Data
  • Strong written and verbal communication: Ability to verbally communicate complex ideas into simple, easy to understand concepts via conversations, presentations, and discussions
  • Decision Making and Assertiveness: Ability to make clear and consistent decisions using data from multiple stakeholders; ability to take initiative and drive towards desired outcome in a timely and collaborative manner
  • Results Orientation: Ability to have a clear and determined focus on getting the job done; proactively taking steps to achieve goals and emphasize action, not simply thinking or planning
  • Creative Thinking/Innovation: Ability to look and think outside the box to identify potential solutions that either create or improve technology to increase the effectiveness/efficiency of an existing capability, introduce a new capability, and/or allow an existing system to operate under increased constraints
  • Collaboration/Teamwork/Facilitation: Ability to include and work together with cross-functional teams, diverse groups and individuals at all levels to achieve a common goal; ability to solicit participation and keep teams focused on well-defined objective
  • Excellent technical skills and the ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
  • Experience with Salesforce, Data, (including Snowflake) and Cloud
  • Exceptional collaboration, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues and initiatives in an accurate yet understandable way
  • Negotiation and influence with Business Partners
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with strong time-management capabilities
  • Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail
