As the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Director of Credit Risk, you will be an integral part of the ERM Credit Risk team in proactively identifying, assessing, measuring, monitoring, and mitigating credit and operational risks stemming from the Bank’s growing loan portfolio. You will engage with and influence lending teams and executive leadership on credit matters. Your intellectual curiosity will allow you to contribute to identifying and addressing emerging risks such as climate risk and ensuring risk awareness as the bank grows.  You and your team will actively engage with the Bank’s 3rd party loan review consultants and auditors throughout the year with regular reporting to the Bank’s Board Audit Committee. This position reports to the ERM Credit Risk Officer.

 

What you’ll do as Director, Credit Risk:

 

  • Supervise the Bank’s third-party loan review process including vendor selection, budget approval and monitoring, and vendor onboarding. Facilitate engagement between the vendor and Bank lending personnel to ensure timely completion of review work. Communicate review findings and monitor resolution of identified issues. Similarly, engage with the Bank’s external auditors (KPMG) and internal SOX team.
  • Collaborate with the Bank’s Chief Credit Officer, Credit Risk Officer, and Executive Loan Committee members to select and analyze loans with elevated risk. Flag risk concerns and escalate as appropriate.
  • Aggregate and summarize scope and results of analysis each quarter.
  • Contribute to an array of risk reporting for the Bank’s executive team and Board of Directors. Ensure consistency, accuracy and brevity in all reporting.
  • Play a leadership role in analyzing emerging and idiosyncratic credit risks including natural disasters (earthquake, hurricane, wildfire).
  • Provide leadership and effective challenge in risk processes including risk control self-assessments, risk inventory, changes to the Credit Risk Management Framework, Credit Policy and Lending Standards. Work with Credit Risk Officer to analyze data to establish and monitor credit-related Key Risk Indicators (“KRI”).
  • Interface with lending teams and loan operations to understand risks stemming from the lending process. Identify and escalate important risks and provide support and leadership to mitigation.
  • Supervise credit risk analyst(s) and provide rationale for increased staffing needs as the Bank grows.

 

Candidate must have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as a part of multiple teams. Discretion with highly confidential information is required.
