In Technology, we support First Republic’s employees and clients through the acquisition, integration and management of the Bank’s information technology systems and services. What you'll do as a Data Engineer:

  • Build software and data engineering expertise and own data quality for our processes
  • Drive technical excellence and implementation of software engineering best practices
  • Design and deliver large scale, highly available and mission-critical data pipelines and features using modern cloud and big data architectures
  • Develop and deliver batch, stream, and big data solutions using technologies such as Kafka, EMR, Kinesis, Storm, Spark, Hadoop, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.
  • Oversee end-to-end agile design, scoping, implementation, and testing of solution
  • Develop Pipelines, ensuring the best practice are implemented for data governance, data quality, data lineage and data cleansing
  • Responsible for driving and managing data source integration between various vendor systems

 

You could be a great fit if you have:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in information technology, computer science or data science or related discipline
  • 5+ years of collective experience in software engineering, data analysis, data warehousing or data transformation, in a similarly sized organization
  • 2+ years of experience building and administering large-scale distributed applications using a cloud platform
  • Professional experience at the intersection one or more cloud platforms and feature delivery of complex systems
  • Proficiency with at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, C#. Python is preferred
  • Experience with Amazon AWS services (Redshift, SQS, Kinesis, DynamoDB, RDS, etc.)
  • Proficiency in SQL. Ability to perform complex data analysis and modeling with large volumes of data using Relational and Non SQL databases
  • Experience with Big Data technologies, e.g., Hadoop, Spark
  • Familiar with Data Virtualization concepts ideally with Tableau/Denodo/Composite experience
  • Experience in DevOps and automation using CICD tools and process
  • Hands-on experience working in large-scale data environments which included real-time and/or batch processing requirements
  • Hands-on experience building real-time or near real-time data pipelines is a big plus
  • Experience creating software in highly-regulated environments is also a big plus
  • Patience with how the environment is, with an eye towards refactoring the environment into what it should be
  • An ability to win friends and influence people on both the technology and business sides
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Empathy for our clients and stakeholders on both the technology and business side
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude and the ambition to tackle challenging issues

Job Demands:

  • Must be able to review and analyze data reports and manuals; must be computer proficient.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone and in person.
