The Middleware Lead is responsible for leading the design and development of the banks Enterprise Application Integration solution architecture and platform (based on Tibco middleware) to support Systems of Record to Systems of Enablement/Interaction integration.


In partnership with IS leadership, sets direction, plans and manages the people and performance of the middleware function. Decision making has high impact on business capabilities. Implements strategic direction set by the IS leadership by establishing plans and priorities for teams under own purview and mentoring managers on how to achieve goals.


Key outcomes the lead  is expected to oversee and accomplish include:

·       Development of a middleware roadmap and strategy and  its delivery

·       Ongoing on-time and on-budget development of services in support of business and project needs


  • Plan, manage and support the span of technology which consist of a range of products and technologies in the Middleware space, such as Web Services, JMS Messaging, Managed File Transfer, Batch scheduling, etc.  
  • Partner effectively with Enterprise Architecture, IT Strategy and other IT leadership to create and maintain a Middleware roadmap and overall enterprise integration strategy and future state blueprint, which clearly aligns with the IT roadmap and business plan.
  • Oversee and manage the execution of business requirements on the Middleware platform, executing against a prioritized list of services.
  • Build, maintain and evolve the framework and infrastructure to build common reusable components for core applications, utilizing the Middleware architecture.
  • Provide guidance for various development teams to ensure development on the middleware solution meets long-term objectives and promotes reusable service orientation; maintain and steward the detailed design and support artifacts of platform.
  • Perform duties & responsibilities specific to department functions & activities.
  • Responsibilities include the following:  1) adhering to and complying with the applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.) 2) adhering to Bank policies and procedures, 3) completing required training,  4) identifying and reporting suspicious activity to the AML Officer.
  • Ensures middleware infrastructure is in compliant with bank policies and standards.
  • Proactively manages and reports on risks.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent technical skills in products and technologies in the Middleware and application integration space
  • Significant experience in system development and broad and deep expertise in software, hardware, data structures, and communications technology across multiple platforms
  • IT-related certifications.
  • Good knowledge of the asset types under governance and their lifecycles.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field (or four additional years related work experience in lieu of bachelors). Masters preferred
  • Minimum of ten years of related work experience. Demonstrated experience in leading a sub-function
  • Experience in software  management in Financial Services / Banking
  • Experience in successfully managing and overseeing corporate projects


Physical Requirements:

  • Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals and computer screens
  • Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone calls and in person
  • Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions
  • Position involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • Must be able to travel in a limited capacity
