The Enterprise Risk Management team seeks to identify, measure, monitor, and control risks across all areas of First Republic. The ERM team is highly integrated into all Bank activities and processes, including Private Wealth Management (PWM). The Fiduciary and Suitability Risk Analyst is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and management of risk monitoring across First Republic’s PWM business and the Bank as a whole.


  • Work closely with the Fiduciary and Suitability Risk Director to collaborate with Banking and PWM leaders and control function heads to proactively assess business activities including existing and new products, and fiduciary/suitability risks therein.
  • Help to maintain appropriate policies and standards for supporting fiduciary and suitability risks. Ensure that policies and frameworks are reviewed, updated and submitted for required approvals at least annually.
  • Assist with maintaining an appropriate Risk Appetite Statement Tolerance and Appetite metrics and qualitative statements as well as other Key Risk Indicators and Early Warning metrics.
  • Participate in risk inventory workshops focused on PWM operations and support PWM in the quarterly risk inventory attestation process.
  • Aid in monitoring for and contributing to (as required) timely and robust completion of identified fiduciary/suitability risk issues.
  • Support ERM efforts to expand monitoring of suitability, sales practices and conduct risk across the enterprise, including developing metrics and reporting to monitor sales practices.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the CRO office, first line of defense risk managers, risk liaisons, and risk owners to maintain an overall cohesive ERM program.
  • This position will report directly to the Fiduciary & Suitability Risk Director.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Candidate must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills plus the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and able to manage multiple complex tasks concurrently.
  • Discretion with confidential information is also necessary.
  • Systems & Tools:
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio)


  • Bachelor’s degree,
  • 2 to 4 years financial services industry experience
  • Familiarity with broker-dealer and investment advisor activities.
  • CFA or FRM preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written skills

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions; understand the meanings of words and respond effectively; and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
  • Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals and computer screens.
  • Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone calls and in person.
  • Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions.
  • Position involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel as position requires.
  • May be required to lift 25-50lbs.
