Responsibilities

The Financial Planning Associate will support one of First Republic’s top wealth management teams focused on working with high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients and families. The position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking to build a career in financial, tax, and estate planning, and wealth management. Responsibilities include being first point of contact for individual clients, providing internal support to a wealth management team, and directly supporting Senior Wealth Strategist. Additional responsibilities would include:

  • Partnering with the Senior Wealth Strategist in preparation of sophisticated and comprehensive financial plans for high net worth clients
  • Working closely on client engagements as coached by Managing Directors
  • Assisting with the preparation of client correspondences, engagement letters, documents and presentations
  • Performing data analysis utilizing financial planning software packages and modeling what-if scenarios – including some data entry
  • Managing and maintaining sensitive client information
  • Tracking client engagements and maintaining ongoing metrics for client assets
  • Coordinating with private banking, individual wealth management team members, and other internal resources
  • Assisting with general administrative support for wealth management team. Tasks include phone coverage, calendaring financial planning meetings, ongoing review of client data, information processing, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Power Point, and Excel is a must. Familiarity with, or ability to be trained in, NumberCruncher, WealthTec, and/or eMoney is preferred. 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus on financial services, accounting, finance, or economics
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, or willingness to complete the CFP program within 12-18 months of hire date

The Financial Planning Associate will be an aspiring team player with a sincere desire to play a crucial role within a growing wealth management business. Importantly, the individual should demonstrate dynamic analytical and technical abilities, impeccable communication skills, strong attention to detail.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong interest in financial planning and investments; previous financial planning/ investment/ finance/analytical experience preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with investments, financial markets, wealth management, banking, and basic knowledge of essential planning concepts preferred, but not required
  • Comfortable interacting, both via phone and in-person, with high net worth clients
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills 
  • Strong analytical and technical abilities
  • Willingness to be in a support role and handle administrative tasks
  • Intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under high pressure and deadlines
  • Sound judgment and reasoning abilities
  • Passionate about financial planning, wealth management, and providing exceptional service
  • Excited about mentorship and exposure opportunity

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals and computer screens 
  • Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at normal volume, including telephone calls and in person 
  • Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions
  • Position involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • Must be able to travel in a limited capacity
