The Digital Technologies is looking for a Liferay portal developer. The Portal Developer is responsible for developing applications in Liferay.  In this role, you will work with IT teams and other internal organizations to understand business requirements. You will develop these requirements into functional specifications and detailed technical design documents, and participate in the full development process life-cycle from concept, through testing, to implementation.

The position will collaborate closely with business and technical resources in support of various testing activities and phases. This covers configurations and customization of Liferay portal.

You should adhere to development plan and guide team for any query in Liferay and Java related technologies.

This position will be responsible for leveraging advanced analytical, research and problem solving skills to define innovative technology solutions in cooperation with fellow developers to meet business objectives.


The ideal candidate will possess a deep and broad understanding of Information Technology best practices and processes. Additionally a strong and demonstrated strength in analysis and support of consumer banking systems is required.


The Liferay Developer reports to the Digital Technologies Portal Lead.


  • Participate in software development lifecycle of appplication development. Evaluate, design, implement and maintain internal and external portal applications.
  • Support existing applications by adding/updating features. Test driven development is a must. Maintain code quality, generate unit case reports and work with QA teams.
  • Create and maintain technical design documentation. Keep development process documents upto date.
  • Capable of resolving complex problems with respect to new application development, as well as existing applcations.
  • Working with internal teams to coordinate builds and deployment.
  • Perform duties & responsibilities specific to department functions & activities.
  • Performs other duties & responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor
  • Responsibilities include the following: 1) adhering to and complying with all applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, etc.), 2) adhering to Bank policies and procedures, 3) completing required training, 4) identifying and reporting potential suspicious activity to the BSA/AML Officer, and 5) knowing and verifying the identity of any customer(s) that enters into a relationship with the Bank




  • 5+ years of experience with Liferay (experience with DXP is preffered)
  • 7+ years of experience developing portlets (Spring), consuming web services (SOAP, RESTful)
  • 7+ years of experience with Java and object oriented design
  • 5+ years of experience in developing applications using MVC frameworks
  • 5+ years of experience working with web & application servers (JBOSS EAP is preffered)
  • 3+ years of experience developing secured applications wrt OWASP standards
  • 3+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Experience with JS frameworks, HTML5, CSS etc
  • Must have excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent team player with strong communications skills and a desire to learn, including ability to present effectively to both business and technical audiences at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with Agile software development methods
  • Proven knowledge and robust understanding of banking and payments industry and processes
  • Expertise in innovation & the ability to think strategically about how to advance business-led solutions
  • Strong sense of prioritization and execution against critical deliverables, coupled with a sense of personal ownership for key projects / issue resolution
