This ETL QA Engineer will be responsible for various Datawarehouse, Business Intelligence, Regulatory and Compliance projects including development of test plans, test cases and test data, managing test execution, status reporting and provide QA support for Projects. The QA Engineer will apply proven analytical, technical and problem-solving skills to provide quality assurance procedures to validate Datawarehouse and ETL logics, Risk based application and tools, SDLC processes (Waterfall and Agile/Scrum).

Responsibilities

Exercises independent judgment with direction from supervisor.

  • Work effectively with Test Manager, Business SMEs and other Key Stakeholders.
  • Conduct reviews and obtain approvals with the key stakeholders.
  • Develop test plan and test cases including test data conditioning.
  • Completion of Test execution and deliverables.
  • Review project requirements and define the test plan and scenarios.
  • Ensure discrepancies between expected results and actual results of test execution.
  • Log defects in Defect tracking tool and well versed with Defect Management system.
  • Collaborate with test leads to help develop and improve existing test methodology and processes.
  • Coordinate test data conditioning.
  • Escalate testing issues to QA Test Manager.
  • Maintain Requirements Traceability Document.
  • Other testing duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a technical field such as computer science, engineering or related field required.
  • Good working experience in technical requirements gathering phases including Design, code, test, troubleshoot, and document engineering software applications.
  • 8-10 years’ experience required in QA with at least 5 years’ ETL expertise.
  • 5+ years' QA with emphasis on deconstructing business requirements, writing test plans scripts.
  • Experience reporting, regressing and reproducing software problems.
  • Ability to lead and take ownership of testing.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects.
  • Experience with relational databases with excellent SQL skills and understanding of dimensional modeling
  • Experience developing test frameworks and methodologies in data processing processes/pipelines and/or programming languages such as Scala, Python, etc.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Experience with end-to-end software system testing required.
  • Must have a strong understanding of data, how data flows, SQL, and database structures.
  • Solid working experience in ETL tools like Informatica PowerCenter 9.6, Ab Initio.
  • 5+ years of solid Knowledge and/or experience with Business Intelligence (BI) data warehousing environment.
  • Knowledge of test plans, test cases, procedures, and/or test scripts.
  • Knowledge of translating business requirements and technical specifications into test cases.
  • Extensive SQL experience is a must. ETL/DW experience highly desired.
  • Experience with databases like Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle is needed.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to seek inputs on process improvements and improve re-use of test assets.
  • Experience in reporting, regressing and reproducing software problems. 
  • Ability to estimate test schedule and report on test progress.
  • 7-9 years’ of experience in the Information Services field, focusing on QA activities and testing.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, able to gain the respect of the team, external stakeholders, and management.
  • Meet with department heads, managers, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
  • Must encourage, support, and guide continuous improvement of the team, its products and processes.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication required. Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Must be able to resolve conflict through negotiation, reasoned discussion, or escalation.
  • Must be willing and able to identify problems, impediments, dependencies, and other team dysfunctions, and then facilitate quick resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, comfortable presenting to large and small groups.
  • Knowledge of TFS Tool is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • 5+ year of experience in Financial services, health care or 2+years at a start-up
  • Expertise in performing data integration, validation, and data quality testing for large data oriented project deployments
  • Some knowledge of web development frameworks including Express or Flask with Angular, React, or Elm
