The Commercial Closing Specialist is primarily responsible for preparing and processing all necessary documents for the various loans offered through the Commercial Lending department. The Specialist will also maintain comprehensive product knowledge of term loans, lines of credit, and secured and unsecured loans in order to accurately and efficiently review all commercial loan files. Review of collateral such as business assets, certificates of deposits, life insurance, marketable securities and real estate will also be necessary for thorough loan preparation. From time to time, the Commercial Closing Specialist will also provide suggestions for process improvements based on on-the-job experiences. The ideal candidate will be able to successfully manage his or her workload in accordance with fluctuating deadlines/priorities and possess an ability to excel in a team-oriented environment.




Additionally, you will:

Prepare all documentation for commercial lending accurately and efficiently:

  • Process commercial lines of credit, term loans and standby letters of credit.
  • Conduct UCC searches for lien priority, preliminary title reports, and flood and casualty insurance requirements for real estate secured loans.
  • Prepare appropriate security agreements.
  • Review all necessary collateral.
  • Prepare documentation for specialty loan products such as aircraft, winery and equity fund “just in time” bridge loans.

Prepare loan package for funding and booking:

  • Conduct pre-funding audit of executed documents.
  • Ensure satisfaction of funding conditions.
  • File UCC-1 financing statements in iLien system.
  • Collaborate with the Business Banking and Relationship Manager teams, Servicing department and Credit department to ensure timely and accurate delivery of loan documentation and booking.
  • Manage personal loan pipeline to ensure timely delivery of documents based on departmental requirements.
  • Perform duties & responsibilities specific to department functions & activities or as assigned by supervisor.
  • Responsibilities include the following: 1) adhering to and complying with all applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, etc.), 2) adhering to Bank policies and procedures, 3) completing required training, 4) identifying and reporting potential suspicious activity to the BSA/AML Officer, and 5) knowing and verifying the identity of any customer(s) that enters into a relationship with the Bank.

Education, Experience, Training, or Certifications/Licenses:

  • Required: High School diploma and 2-3 years of experience in commercial business lending with a focus on document preparation.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree

Products and Software:

  • Must possess strong working knowledge of MS Word/ MS Excel/ MS Outlook.
  • Knowledge of LaserPro, AFS and HotDocs preferred.External Contacts: N/A
  • Internal Contacts: Interaction required with individuals within the organization at several levels.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions; understand the meanings of words and respond effectively; and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
  • Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals and computer screens.
  • Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone calls and in person.
  • Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions.
  • Position involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel as position requires.
  • May be required to lift 25-50lbs.
