    The Physical Security Specialist ("Specialist") is responsible for providing professional security services to provide a safe environment for personnel, clients and visitors and to protect the property and assets at First Republic Bank’s corporate and banking offices. The Specialist has a dual role of maintaining a safe and secure environment by responding to security incidents and concerns, and to support bank wide projects to ensure established security standards are in place. The Specialist sustains the Bank Security Department's development, implementation, maintenance and testing of physical security systems and policies and procedures that will reduce, manage and/or eliminate risk factors affecting human and physical assets. The Specialist assists in the management of daily work orders for both security alarm and surveillance requests and investigating alarms. The Specialist will also assists in security system design as well as managing facility projects, conduct security surveys and travel as needed to fulfill all responsibilities. The Specialist provides guidance to personnel in response to actual or perceived security or safety issues.

     

    The individual must be a self-starter and work well within a team environment as well as independently. This position will be located in our New York City office.



    Responsibilities

    • Manage daily work orders and service requests, track false alarms and related invoices to determine their cause so appropriate action can be taken; assist in providing alarm access and cancellations as required; assist in providing a check and balance for pending invoices awaiting approval by the Director of Physical Security and assist with surveillance requests.
    • Provide technical support for security systems and Corporate Security Investigation Department, review reported security system issues and investigates anomalies as needed.
    • Conduct annual site security surveys/risk assessments for bank facilities. Recommend and integrate security upgrades as needed to maintain regulatory compliance, industry standards and to adjust to changing security requirements.
    • Create and maintain spreadsheets or other databases, as directed, for security equipment inventory at banking office locations, alarm code users, robbery statistics and other data and statistical reports.
    • Work with other departments to design security components that meet or exceed the Bank’s security needs. Supervise the implementation of such components and track their performance.
    • Work closely with selected security vendors to insure quality of products and installation.
    • Represent the Director of Physical Security and Corporate Security Investigations as designated on assigned matters regarding physical security when primary responsible party is unavailable.
    • Provide training as requested or needed for business units and New Hire Training classes.
    • Secure premises and personnel by routinely monitoring personnel, clients, visitors and vendors along with property: inspecting corporate buildings, equipment and access points.
    • Observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate and document incidents or disturbances.
    • Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures and restraining trespassers.
    • Prevent passage of prohibited or unsafe articles into restricted areas.
    • React as a first responder to any corporate security incident and adhere to protocols of the bank security program.
    • Work with law enforcement in non-emergency and emergency situations.
    • Write reports of incidents or investigations and maintain evidence as needed.
    • Review alarm systems and/or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment as needed.
    • Perform duties and responsibilities specific to department functions and activities.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor.
    • Responsibilities include the following: 1) adhering to and complying with all applicable, Federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, etc.), 2) adhering to Bank policies and procedures, 3) completing required training, 4) identifying and reporting potential suspicious activity of any customer(s) that enters a relationship with the Bank.
    • The role and responsibilities of the Physical Security Specialist may evolve and change to align with the needs of the business.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years of professional work experience (Corporate setting preferred)
    • Minimum 2 years of project management experience
    • College degree or equivalent work experience
    • Separated/retired law enforcement or military professional is desirable
    • Knowledge of corporate security policies
    • Knowledge of physical security systems and their applications
    • MS Office Suite knowledgeable; Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio.
    • Industry certifications are desirable:
      • Physical Security Professional (PSP)
      • Professional Certified Investigator (PCI)
      • Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
      • Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM)

    • Position involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
    • May be required to lift up to 25-50lbs
    • Must be able to travel (20%)
