Discover the independence to grow and drive change

As a Data Service Developer, you’ll work with architects, data analysts and business analysts to translate needs into solution design, developing ETL code in Informatica or Python packages and modules to create the related ETL design specifications and framework. You’ll coordinate these projects collaboratively with cross-functional teams as you effectively communicate design and development goals with a wide range of technical, non-technical and third-party team members. You’ll report to the Wealth Management Technology Manager and help drive the implementation and development of innovative, cutting-edge solutions for the Wealth Management team’s client-centric technology roadmap. You have a key responsibility within First Republic to ensure that our client experience within Wealth Management maintains the highest standards of the Bank.

What you’ll do as a Data Service Developer:

    • Create effective, data-driven solutions as part of a growing, fast-paced and highly flexible team, consulting with product designers and other stakeholders in the company, as well as database administrators and data integration (ETL) developers.
    • Design and develop data warehouse/data mart projects and oversee the entire process life cycle from concept through testing, implementation and support using the Agile development methodology. This includes leveraging and improving established data model and ETL frameworks and identifying creative solutions to data and application challenges.
    • Leverage project proposals to analyze how the new system or functionality can be integrated in the current environment.
    • Establish quality processes to deliver a stable and reliable solution.
    • Build distributed backend applications in the cloud.
    • Develop a comprehensive system to provide documentation (e.g., data mapping, technical specifications, production support, data dictionaries and test cases) for all projects.

You could be a great fit if you have:

    • A bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering
    • More than seven years of experience in an ETL developer role

    • Understanding of the Agile method and its implementation for data warehouse development

    • An understanding of traditional and alternative asset class investment data, such as equity, fixed income, private equity, real estate, derivatives, mutual funds, ETFs, global assets and foreign exchange, with capital markets knowledge and experience desired
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a variety of settings and styles, taking initiative to recommend and develop innovative approaches
    • The ability to identify and resolve any performance- or data-related issues, quickly finding common ground as a team player who encourages collaboration
    • Experience with Celery, RESTful APIs and server-side APIs integration; plus experience with development methodologies, database platforms and data modeling tools (erwin Data Modeler/SAS Model Manager)
    • Strong experience with SQL Server Management Studio and Advanced T-SQL and SQL Server databases
    • Experience in any big data technologies, such as Hadoop, EMR, Amazon Redshift or Amazon s3
    • Experience with batch data processing with SFTP/SSH and Unix/Linux
