    About the Role:

    First Republic has a long history of partnering closely with the Private Equity and Venture Capital industries, and the Professional Loan Program (PLP), plays a pivotal role in deepening our ability to serve our client firms and their needs. Through the Professional Loan Program, we offer tailored loan programs to enable employees of our PE and VC firm clients to personally co-invest into the funds being raised by their firms. Another component of PLP is offering loans or lines of credit to prospective partners at professional service firms, to finance their partnership equity purchases. 


    The PLP team is looking for a Credit Specialist to perform a thorough analysis on every individual borrower who will either be co-investing into a fund or buying into a partnership to ensure that our individual clients meet our credit criteria. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with PE/VC experience, who is eager to build his/her career as an underwriter and gain expertise in credit analysis. Based in San Francisco, this role will focus on processing, evaluating, and completing financial analysis on individual loan requests and will also help with monitoring and maintaining the overall credit quality of existing Eagle loan facilities.

    • Process Eagle Loan Applications and ensure our commitment to our turn- around time is met. This includes, but is not limited to: entering application information in origination systems, running appraisal reports, UCC searches, corporate name verifications, OSI account inquiries and AFS account inquiries.
    • Ensure that all documentation required for the file is obtained and file is complete. Process adverse action decisions by contacting the referring officer, which may also include communication with a client, preparing notices and mailing as required.
    • Communicate with the sales force (Eagle Lending Relationship Managers, Eagle Lending Associates, Residential Relationship Managers, Preferred Bankers, and Preferred Banking Offices), Credit, Credit Administration, Commercial Loan Operations, and Deposits on new requests and existing facilities.
    • Assist in monitoring the existing portfolio to ensure quality credit and avert any potential signs of default. Reviewing the OnBase reports, Overdraft reports and flag reports.
    • Assist with the Eagle loan portfolio by running credit applications, creating confirmation and welcome letters, and assembling loan files.
    • Assist in identifying any improvements or changes we can make to the Eagle loan process to establish a best practice and make the processes we have in place more efficient.


    • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with enthusiasm and energetic approach to getting job done
    • Polish and self-assurance, coupled with the ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team environment, while assuming individual responsibility as well as ability to adjust priorities quickly
    • BA/BS required with concentration in business or finance preferred
    • 2+ years of experience in banking or financial services required; 1 year of experience with credit analysis desired
    • Advanced familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Access
    • Experience with Moody’s corporate analysis software a plus
    • PE/VC industry experience a plus
