The Investment Services Operations Division provides middle-office support to help investment professionals and clients meet their financial goals.


    The Senior Associate supports the First Republic Private Wealth Management Operations Department on critical tasks related to margin operations. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, follow-through, and an ability to identify and help resolve risk issues. Working with PWM management, the position will also contribute to the development and implementation of middle-office organizational strategies and initiatives.


    1. Address margin operations related items. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Monitoring accounts and assisting with margin calls, margin Items for Attention, debit balances and short positions
      • Accurately explaining firm policies and regulatory rules to inform and educate internal teams
      • Reviewing accounts to identify increased risk exposure and help avoid late payments, excessive regulatory extensions and trading restrictions
      • Analyzing account balances and holdings, calculating interest, and processing account accommodations when appropriate
      • Interacting daily with our custodian and internal teams. Take calls and respond to email inquiries from our Client Service Team and Wealth Managers. Partner with internal departments (Compliance, Administrative Managers, Trading, and Operations) to resolve margin items as necessary. Contact our custodian for margin inquiries and escalated issues.
      • Ensuring the appropriate controls and tools are in place to manage, measure and actively mitigate operational risks across the margin operations functions.     

    2. Responsible for the scanning and logging all mail sent to the PWM Century City office. Researching and ensuring mail is distributed to the appropriate parties within the office.

    3. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor which may include special projects.

    4. General account maintenance such as processing account changes, setting up online access, statement linking, document scanning, transfers and disbursements.

    5. Assists in both internal and external audits pertaining to the Investment Services Operations Division and it sub-teams.

    Key Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Proven history of providing extraordinary service
    • Ability to further the First Republic Bank culture and values
    • Basic margin operations experience
    • Understanding of risk management, industry rules and regulations surrounding margin transactions
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Handles challenges head on with little guidance
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to deliver complex information while maintaining a positive experience
    • Experience with Pershing and NetX 360 preferable

    Educational and Experience Requirements:

    • 2 to 5 years of financial services experiences at a premier brokerage firm or registered investment advisor/manager
    • 2 to 3 years of experience dealing directly with margin operations
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • FINRA Series 7, 24 and 66 licenses preferred

    Mental/Physical Requirements:

    • The ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions; understand the meanings of words and respond effectively; and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
    • Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals and computer screens.
    • Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone calls and in person.
    • Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions.
    • Position involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
    • Must be able to travel as position requires.
    • May be required to lift 25-50lbs.
