    Within the Lending Strategy, Products & Sales Department of First Republic, you will be part of a team that is integral to the Bank’s mortgage origination and balance sheet management activities through its contributions to our Secondary Marketing area. We monitor the mortgage market and recommend strategy, provide the Bank’s daily mortgage loan pricing, create new loan products, sell all loan assets for the Bank, manage pricing and products in multiple systems, and work collaboratively with Loan Teams and Executive Loan Committee to facilitate loan originations and successful secondary market transactions.

     

    Responsibilities

    The Rate Lock Desk Manager contributes to Secondary Marketing by overseeing the Rate Lock Desk, a highly visible team that monitors and responds to support requests via a special email address and hotline, provides mortgage loan pricing to the Bank, manages pricing and loan products in multiple systems and designs and executes a training program for the lending staff on products, pricing and related systems.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to motivate and elevate staff, will display extraordinary customer service skills, have a willingness to take on responsibility and show a strong operational acumen with an eye for effective process.

     

    • Oversee processes and procedures to ensure the accuracy of the daily mortgage rates and their timely release to the Bank.
    • Ensure the Desk’s prompt and professional assistance to the Loan Teams and Executive Loan Committee, and act as an escalation point for issues.
    • Coordinate staff schedules to ensure Rate Lock Desk service level agreements are met.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and help architect solutions.
    • Interface with internal and external systems managers to ensure accuracy of product and pricing information across platforms.
    • Monitor the Desk’s technological needs and identify gaps or opportunities for efficiencies and improvements via technology.
    • Interface with LSPS and Bank management with regard to products, pricing and all matters related to the Rate Lock Desk’s responsibilities.
    • Keep LSPS managers informed of all Desk projects, issues and insights.
    • Drive efforts to keep Loan Team training regarding pricing loans, including the use of the loan origination system and loan pricing engine, active and up-to-date.
    • Interact with loan purchasers and manage loan sale documentation and process.
    • Assist with any and all projects as needed for the department, such as software implementation and testing, changes to loan programs and updates due to regulatory requirements.
    • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of Desk procedures.
    • Identifies staffing needs to keep operations running efficiently and effectively.
    • Assists LSPS analytics staff with departmental reporting, including data insights from Desk experience and interactions and overseeing the uniformity of Desk processes and data entry.

    Qualifications

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Experience managing a small or large team and developing staff
    • Familiarity with mortgage lending
    • Strong computer skills, including Excel

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to learn and comprehend instructions, understand the meanings and respond effectively and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly
    • Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals and computer screens
    • Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone calls and in person and with moderate background noise
    • Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions
    • Must be comfortable in an open work space
    • Position involves sitting most of the time
    • Must be able to travel in a limited capacity
