    The new role will report directly to the Private Wealth Management First Line Risk Manager (FLRM) and will engage with stakeholders across all business lines within Private Wealth Management (PWM) including First Republic Investment Management, First Republic Securities Company, First Republic Trust Company, and First Republic Foreign Exchange.


    The Associate will be responsible with assisting the First Line Risk Manager with the execution of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), which includes both an annual refresh and extemporaneous cycles based on trigger events. Additionally, the role will have a strong focus on control testing.


    What you’ll do as an Operational Risk Associate:

    • Assist the First Line Risk Manager in performing risk oversight and assessment activities including, but not limited to business line control testing and validation, root cause analysis of material operational errors and events, and targeted risk and control assessments
    • Independently identify weaknesses or deficiency to our systems and/or processes or in the design or effectiveness of the control environment
    • Assist with Quality Assurance testing for Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance, as needed
    • Assist in preparing RCSA summary report and dashboard to be presented to executive management and the Chief Risk Officer at First and Second Line of Defense challenges
    • Ability to quickly develop rapport with business partners

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
    • Strong risk mindset
    • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify root cause and help drive action plans to closure
    • Prior exposure to control testing, risk assessments and/or Private Wealth Management preferred
    • Independently takes initiatives with minimum guidance and supervision; be a self-starter
    • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
    • Highly motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities
    • Ability to be a team player with positive energy
    • Demonstrates a natural curiosity and a willingness to learn/ask questions
    • Strong organization and prioritization skills
    • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) preferred but not required
    • Proficient in Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word

    Job Demands:

    • Must be able to review and analyze data reports and manuals; must be computer proficient.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone and in person.
