    The portfolio director is a senior business leader responsible for overseeing and managing the full change portfolio (Programs, Products, Projects, including department level projects) across a number of business units that are grouped together as a cross-functional portfolio. The Portfolio Director role exists to improve the management and delivery of new capabilities, experiences and features for the bank, its clients and employees.   The Portfolio Director contributes transformation of the company toward an Agile and productized delivery model.


    What you’ll do as a Portfolio Director:

    • Work with business leaders and product managers in respective business units in a facilitative function to ensure that portfolio investments are tied to strategic objectives and outcomes have been defined by the respective business and product leads
    • Understand delivery status, interdependency mapping and resource planning of the portfolio to optimize timing, sequencing, and resolve bottlenecks
    • Act in a “program manager” execution role for at least one project / year
    • Facilitating the presentment of annual portfolios plan and quarterly updates, in collaboration with the relevant department leads and in accordance with the annual planning process
    • Cover the full change scope for a given portfolio, including cross-enterprise programs, projects, products, and department level projects with a focus on Corporate Services:  Accounting, Finance, Vendor Management, HR, Legal and Compliance
    • Collaborate to drive Agile transformation toward a productized delivery model
    • Work cross-functionally with other Portfolio Directors, product managers, business technology partners and program managers to stay apprised of initiative progress and upcoming risks and interdependencies through quarterly forums and as-needed discussions; work to resolve any dependencies with peer group
    • Ensure that the full portfolio adheres to Enterprise Portfolio Management standards


    Key outcomes a Portfolio Director is expected to accomplish include:

    • A shared portfolio of projects, products, and programs that is tied to the strategic objectives of the respective business units and the bank

    • An articulation of clear business outcomes to be delivered by the portfolio, over the near, medium and long term horizons (outcomes are measurable and observable benefits to the banks clients, bankers, bank functions, etc.)

    • More efficient delivery across the bank by resolving dependencies and optimizing investments with close collaborating with other Portfolio Directors, identifying leverage opportunities where possible

    • Construct an annual portfolio of change to input into the bank’s annual planning process

    • Champion progressive adoption of Agile delivery methods and productized view of the portfolio

    • Ongoing (about quarterly) reviews of the portfolio for executive leadership to assess performance against delivering business outcomes 


    What skills you will use:

    • Experience with enterprise products and projects within Accounting, Finance, HR, Compliance, and Legal functions
